OSCAR ORTIZ

Actor, Mime, Storyteller, Theatre Director, Cultural Management Degree, Master of Arts.

Born in the city of San Luis Potosi, Mexico on November 14, 1955. Graduate in Potosino Institute of Fine Arts. He works at the Theatre Chicano in Illinois and California in the United States.

In 1978 he joined as a professional actor in the Frederick Theatre Company of Belgium.

Instructor of Theatre in Education. Actor in many staging’s of classic Mexican authors and universal drama. Founder of the storytelling movement in Mexico.

Since 2000, enrolled as a teacher in Performing Arts at the University of Quintana Roo in Chetumal, Mexico.

Lender in 2002 Medal of My Life in the Theatre, awarded by the Mexican Center ITI-UNESCO.

Delegate of the ITI-UNESCO Mexican Center in Quintana Roo.

Member of the International University Theatre Association, AITU-UNESCO, where he participated in the conferences and theatres Festivals, in Italy, Spain, Mexico, United States of America and Canada.

Partner in community programs in Toronto: Davenport Neighbourhood Centre, Keele Community Action Resource Centre, Eglington Community Action Resource Centre, Artscape Wichwood Barns, Casa Maiz Latin America Cultural Centre, Crisalida Theatre and Voces Poeticas.

Now since May 2010 has made “Doubledouble, Mime and clown” The art in moving. And Doubledouble Performing Arts. Based in the city of Toronto. From research in the theatre of silence, the art of clowing, communication in multicultural communities.

Director and actor in the Calaveras de Posada, in celebrating the Day of the Dead on the Harbour Front Centre, Artscape Wichwood Barn, 1st. Our Americas Art Festival with Casa Maiz in October-November 2010 in Toronto, Ca.
